Introducing why Another Bun is #PositiveAboutBF

#PositiveAboutBF, breastfeeding blog, breastfeeding a newborn

There was no question when pregnant with my first child whether I was going to breastfeed or not. It wasn't a case of 'if I breastfeed', it was always 'when I breastfeed'. After a traumatic delivery, I was presented with a hungry little boy who thankfully knew what he was doing from the outset. Our journey wasn't without its struggles - mastistis, milk blebs, blocked ducts, nipple thrush, painful letdown and oversupply all visited in the first 6 months, but we happily fed till he was over 18 months old.

My passion for breastfeeding and being able to access good support in the early days led me to train as a breastfeeding peer supporter. I love being able to reassure and support a woman who is just finding her feet on her breastfeeding journey and seeing them return more confident in their abilities with babies thriving.

I've had to call on this support myself after the birth of my second baby - you can have all the knowledge but your baby doesn't. It's a huge learning curve each time!

I'm so happy to be part of #PositiveAboutBF. It is important that positive messages about breastfeeding are made visible to the public, and for it to be done without judgement on others. While I have been very lucky to have only recieved positive comments about breastfeeding, I know so many who haven't been so lucky and it shouldn't have to be that way. Breastfeeding is normal, it shouldn't have to be something that causes issues and upset.

  3. It is lovely to hear a positive breast feeding story. I sadly struggled with breast feeding and I had to resort to expressing and then eventually moving on to formula when I was too exhausted to continue. But I admire anyone who does breastfeed and I strongly agree that there should not be any judgement about how you feed your baby. Thanks for linking up to #SundaysStars. Hugs Mrs H xxxx

  4. What a wonderful post! I breastfed my daughter and it was without doubt one of the loveliest, most precious things I've ever done. We were incredibly lucky as it just happened so easily for us but sadly it doesn't quite work out so well for many others, so support services like this are vital for mums and babies alike. Well done you on spreading the message and helping to support others. X #sundaystars
